Our Stories
Diane: on meditation
I am fortunate to have had more than twenty-five years of support with Melissa as my yoga teacher, yoga therapist and as my meditation teacher. Over the years I have grown in my own practice, while being supported by Melissa as she has grown in her own practice. This journey has been one of my personal growth that has helped me in so many ways over the years.
Her encouragement and support over this period has enabled me to keep moving forward. She has always been there or me.
Ann: on daily yoga practice
I first took yoga classes with Melissa well over three decades ago and continue to do so now thanks to the wonder of Zoom. Without her guidance, instruction and expert teaching (all of which have helped me establish a daily practice), I would not be able to be the active person and long-distance hiker that I am today in my late 60's. Her gentle manner and encouragement are unparalleled.
Nancy: on stability
I am so very fortunate to have Lissa as my yoga teacher. She has been undeterred by my chronic back problems and with unwavering faith has encouraged me to listen and have patience with my body's pace.
Under her watchful eye, I have found more stability in my movements than in decades of other providers. Lissa puts her heart and soul into her work and goes above and beyond for all around her. She is a yoga teacher but so much more.
Linda: on flexibility
Melissa Yogyananda Fountain confidently designed a modified yoga self practice for me to recover from a never before experienced osteoarthritis flare-up, that had required my walking with a cane, so that I returned to full participation in yoga classes with good flexibility and overall well-being.
Kathleen: on Vichara
I have been going to a therapist for a long time with marginal results. In 2 months of doing vichara with Melissa, I experienced more insight into my own personality and motivations than I had with my therapist in 25 years. Through class, embodyments, meditation or vichara. Melissa has given me the clarity of purpose and actions I need to take in order to be more present in my life and more blissful and peaceful in my mind and body.
David: on Embodyments
In the midst of two transitional moments in my life (from working to retirement and following a troubling health diagnosis,) I began a series of embodyment sessions with Melissa. Each time they helped integrate my body with the emotional and spiritual “shifts” taking place in my life. Her hands-on touch created a spinal release leading to a greater sense of clarity, when beginning my life in new, creative and centering ways.
